August Burns Red 'Leveler' 10th Anniversary Tour
August Burns Red has gone on tour in celebration of their album ‘Leveler’ 10th anniversary.
Opening the show was a progressive metal band from Alabama band called Erra. Named after the homonymous god of war and plague Erra kicked the show off to the right start with their song ‘Gungrave’ the screaming mixed with the fast guitar and the intense double kick drum there was not one person standing still. Watching the show from the balcony you become memorized at the connection the band holds with the crowd. Even being just the opening band Erra had its fair share of die hard fans there. The high point of their set for me was when they played ‘Breach’ with the slow start and the fast build up it really let the band show what they are made of.
Fit For A King was next up on the bill. I always remember hearing the name of the band from my friends but I think this was the first time I have ever seen them live. The one thing that stood out to me over the fans screaming along and bodies flying over barricade was how amazing the bass player Ryan O’leary was. I have never seen a more energetic bass player. Every time you look back at him he was jumping off something or throwing his bass. This man would not stay still and it was the highlight of the set for me.
August Burns Red brought the ‘Leveler’ 10th anniversary show to Detroit just after getting off of their festival run on the Furnace Fest and Rebel Rock Fest. The band brought the same energy the this 1200 capacity room as they would a 120000 person festival. They started off their set with the awesome song ‘ x ‘ some of August Burns Red’s best songs are off of ‘Leveler’ I was so excited when they announced this tour and they definitely did not let down playing some of my favorite songs like ‘Leveler’ and ‘Boys Of Fall’
All together this show and tour were amazing and I would give it a 10/10 for pure energy and the show all the bands put on. If you are able to catch them I highly recommend it!
