TDE CHRISTMAS DRAWS 10,000 PEOPLE TO WATTS, CA FOR PERFORMANCES FROM SZA, DOECHII, GLORILLA AND MORE…

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), the renowned hip-hop record label founded by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Over the past two decades, TDE has been the launchpad for iconic artists such as Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, and ScHoolboy Q, who have all contributed to the label’s legacy and community-focused initiatives, including the annual TDE Christmas Concert and Toy Drive. This year’s event drew an incredible crowd of 10,000 attendees and distributed $750,000 worth of toys and clothing donations for families in the local community.

Held on Thursday, December 12th this year, day one has annually seen 10,000-15,000 fans flock to Watts to experience the holiday charity concert. The concert featured TDE artists (SZA, Jay Rock, Doechii, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Ab-Soul, Ray Vaughn, Zacari, Kal Banx, and more) as well as a special guest performance by GloRilla and Lefty Gunplay. Prior special guests have included Rihanna, Chris Brown, Big Sean, A$AP Fergand others. Those who attended the charitable concert gained entry by bringing unwrapped toys, new clothes/shoes, or other donations intended for residents of Nickerson Gardens.

The second day of TDE Christmas featured a Community Giveback. The Giveback event included a toy giveaway, toy donations, raffles, youth sport programming, barbering services, carnival attractions, a snow experience, and a family holiday photo opportunity as well as other festive activities – all complimentary to the community. This year's toy drive giveback has been made possible due to key toy donations from Jakks Pacific, Inc. Amazon, Amazon Music Rotation, and PhatMojo. Brands that have donated products for the youth include Converse, True Religion, Pro Club, The Shop Men’s Grooming, K-Swiss and more. The Los Angeles Rams will also hold a co-ed football clinic for youth ages 7-14. For adults who attended the Giveback, TDE partnered with the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) Watts WorkSource Center to provide a job fair with organizations who offer employment on site, and are aligned with creating reentry pathways for ex-offenders.

Since its inception, TDE has stood as a pillar in the music community but this success is only mirrored by the label’s prioritization to give back to some of the most marginalized and under-resourced communities in Los Angeles. This year marks the 11th annual holiday event at the City of Los Angeles Housing Authority, Nickerson Gardens Public Housing development in Watts; where Tiffith and other label members including Grammy Award-winning artist Jay Rock both grew up.

The two-day event presented by TDE’s charity Top Dawg Love the Kids, a 501 3C incorporated in 2023, has become a holiday tradition for Nickerson Gardens residents and members of surrounding LA communities.

Charitable contributions continue to make this event a focal point during the holiday season. This year’s key contributors include: Wasserman, Live Nation, Amazon Music Rotation, Interscope Capitol Labels Group (ICL), RCA Records and more. TDE would also like to acknowledge our local community resources including HACLA, LAPD, LAFD, LA City Councilmember Tim McOsker, Office of Supervisor Holly Mitchell, Los Angeles County Justice Care and Opportunities Department led by Judge Songhai Armstead, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Suburban Water Systems, and Vermont Slauson Economic Development Center for their continual support of this event.

Established in 2020 by Childers and Senora May, HHARF brings awareness and financial support for philanthropic efforts in the Appalachian Region. REVERB’s efforts reduce environmental impact in live music, engage fans and fund carbon impact programs to address the impacts of the tour that cannot be eliminated.

Childers wants to give fans the best chance to buy tickets at face value. To make this possible, those who purchase tickets on Ticketmaster and can’t attend will have the option to resell their tickets at the original price paid using the Face Value Exchange. To protect the Exchange, Childers has requested that all shows ticketed by Ticketmaster, except those in New York and Virginia where Face Value Exchange can’t be mandated, use tickets that are mobile-only and restricted from transfer. For AXS-ticketed events, fans will be able to resell their tickets for face value plus fees through AXS Official Resale Marketplace.

“One of country music’s most compelling and unpredictable artists” (Associated Press), Childers is in the midst of yet another landmark year following the release of his new album, Rustin’ In The Rain, which debuted at #10 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart last fall (Hickman Holler Records/RCA Records, stream/purchase here). The record features seven tracks including the 2x Grammy, VMA and ACM-nominated single, “In Your Love,” which, since its release, has broken into the top 35 on the Mediabase Country chart, garnered over 12 million video views, 215 million on-demand streams and received praise from outlets such as NPR MusicRolling StoneBillboardUSA Today, PitchforkStereogum and many more. Watch the official music video, written/creative directed by Silas House, and starring Colton Haynes and James Scully, HERE

Rustin’ in the Rain follows 2022’s triple album, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?, which featured eight songs presented in three distinct sonic perspectives—Hallelujah, Jubilee and Joyful Noise. Released to widespread acclaim, Esquire praised, “Who’s doing it better than Childers in roots music these days? No one,” while NPR Music declared, “eight songs so good he had to record them thrice.” Before Hounds, Childers released 2020’s Grammy-nominated surprise album, Long Violent History, which NPR Music called an “explicit and remarkable stand in solidarity.” His two previous releases, 2019’s #1 Country Squire as well 2017’s RIAA Platinum debut, Purgatory, were released to overwhelming critical and commercial acclaim. In the years since his debut, Childers has earned seven Grammy nominations and has been featured on “CBS This Morning,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series and “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.”

T-Pain Honored by Hometown of Tallahassee with Official Street Designation, Key to the City & Sold-Out Bicentennial Celebration

Over the weekend, GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, producer, songwriter, entrepreneur and global cultural icon T-Pain was celebrated in his hometown of Tallahassee with a street dedication ceremony, a key to the city and a long-awaited, sold-out concert for thousands of fans at Cascades Park.

Sunday served as a celebration and a walk down memory lane for T-Pain (whose T stands for Tallahassee) as he returned home to the city that raised him, surrounded by friends and family. The day kicked off with a portion of Pasco Street designated“T-Pain Lane,” and the ceremony concluded with Mayor John Dailey presenting T-Pain with a golden key to the city.

“He has had a tremendous impact on Tallahassee,” Dailey said. “He’s had a tremendous impact on the kids of Tallahassee, and he’s a great role model and a great example. I’m just proud to celebrate with him today.”

The day’s festivities concluded with a bicentennial concert at The Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park that sold out in one week and was hosted by Visit Tallahassee, the tourism arm of Leon County Government. “Everything that went on today was just a dream come true,” said T-Pain from the stage.

To close out the year, T-Pain will headline the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and iHeartRadio Jingle Balls in Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta.
