AJR Live At The Deltaplex Arena In Grand Rapids

On September 8th, hundreds of fans gathered at the DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids to witness AJR’s return to the stage with their second show of their first tour of 2021. The venue required patrons to be fully vaccinated or to show proof of a negative COVID test in order to attend the show.

Starting out the set with “Bummerland”, Adam, Jack and Ryan had the crowd screaming for more. Most of the songs they performed were from their new album OK ORCHESTRA such as “3 O’Clock Things”, “Ordinaryish People” and “World’s Smallest Violin”. The three brothers engaged with their audience so well and made everyone feel welcome. They even shared a hilarious story about meeting Elton John at an awards show and how he thought they were Dan + Shay. The trio also had a touring trumpet player, Arnetta Johnson, who came out for a few songs. She was absolutely incredible.

AJR put on one of the most well-thought out, colorful and imaginative performances I’ve seen in such a long time. I left that show being completely mesmerized by them. I entered barely knowing anything about the music and now I have them on repeat in my car. The brothers and their team put on a triumphant show that will stick with me forever. It’s one that you have to witness with your own eyes. AJR will be on tour for a few more dates this year and then will be back on the road for another headlining tour next spring.
