Chill On The Hill 2015

The second installation of Chill On The Hill was anything but the “secondary lineup.” The power packed end of the evening started with Cold War Kids, who have been getting a lot more exposure, so much that even Cal Cagno mentioned that their new song “First” hit number 1 status. The Kids played both new jams from the new album and old favorites like “Hang Me Up To Dry.” Once the sun went down, it was time for veterans Coheed & Cambria to hit the stage. Frontman Claudio Sanchez’s hair billows around him as hits the guitar riffs from “A Favor House Atlantic” and “Here We Are Juggernaut” and “Sweet Josephine.” They played a few songs from the new album among their classics, and of course, had to end the show with “Welcome Home.” The electric infusion of the final song makes your hair stand on end, as they play the full solo to end their set. As the chill turned to chilly, Cage The Elephant came to kick up the heat. Lead singer Matt Schultz blew a hole in the sound with “Spiderhead” - and crowd surfing over three times with a corded mic. The stage crew seemed very displeased with this as Schultz was sucked into the crowd multiple times, but hey, a rock star is a rock star. At least CTE did their homework, mentioning The White Stripes and The Stooges when exchanging pleasantries with the crowd. Other favorites like “In One Ear” were high energy - showing that bands like The Ramones influenced their stage presence. All in all, it’s another successful year of Chill on the Hill - which in our opinion is a lot more exciting than “Netflix and Chill.”
