Molchat Doma at The Fillmore in Detroit

Molchat Doma is a Belarusian post-punk band from Minsk, formed in 2017. Its current lineup is Egor Shkutko (vocals), Roman Komogortsev (guitar, synthesizer, drum machine), and Pavel Kozlov (bass guitar, synthesizer). Its style has been called post-punk, new wave, synth-pop, and cold wave.

Molchat Doma has come all the way over from Russia to grace Detroit with with some amazing post punk rock. Before Molchat Doma hit the stage we had an opening band that went by Sextile. This band was one of the most fun live bands I have seen in the past few years, they had amazing live energy interacting with the crowd as the lead singer jumped into the crowd. Sextile was a great mix of hyper pop and electronic music, it’s honestly everything I want of the Detroit movement festival… Hint hint movement this is actually a band people would enjoy dancing to. They were definitely an amazing band to open the show for Molchat Doma

When the Belarusian band hit the stage all of the goth fans from all over michigan erupted in cheers in this historic concert hall. A layer of haze covered the stage and the music along with vocals of singer Egor Shkutko hypnotized the audience. When Egor wasn’t singing he was showing off his dance moves on stage. Even though I couldn’t understand anything that they were singing about I do know that this music is a perfect sad music to vibe to. I can’t wait till they make it back to the detroit area so I can catch them again.
