Nothing More at The Fillmore Detroit
Nothing More started their spring co-headlining tour with the Warped Tour era hard rock turned dad rock band Asking Alexandria. The band made it through half the tour before dropping out due issues affecting the health of his voice. Asking Alexandria had this to say about their departure "We have had to miss the last few shows of our tour because Danny has suffered from a severe throat infection. Today, we all woke up early in anticipation of receiving news from a voice specialist. Unfortunately, the news we received was not the news we were hoping for and we have been told that Danny cannot sing for the next few weeks and needs to remain on vocal rest. Obviously this means we will not be able to continue with our North American tour and it breaks our hearts to have to say that. Whilst Danny recovers we will be working diligently to book a new tour so that we can get back out there and see you all again. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us." We hope that Danny Worsnop has a speedy recovery.
Just because one band left the tour doesn’t mean the show is over. The remaining bands on the tour, Eve Under Fire, Atreyu and Nothing more continued on the rest of the tour. With 12 dates and 2 and a half weeks left all the bands worked together to make sure the fans still got a show.
As the tour rolled through Detroit I arrived to The Fillmore on a beautiful summer evening. Almost missing Eve Under Fire. I caught the last few songs of their set the Detroit native bands absolutely killed their set and it was an amazing start to the night! Singer Amanda Lyberg held a commanding grip on the crowd with her stage presence.
Atreyu is an American metalcore band from California formed over 20 years ago. The band came out to a dramatic light show that matched the same energy of the first song of their set “Strange Powers of Prophecy”. As the show went on Atreyu proved why they are a force to recon with in the metal world. My favorite thing when I see a band live is that they move around and don’t just stand there looking board. Atreyu did not stop moving and even the singer being a little bit bigger of a guy he was still running around and jumping off of things on the stage. This being my first time seeing Atreyu live I would definitely go see them again. I would love to see them a headlining show at a venue like the Magic Stick or St Andrews.
I have been hearing about Nothing More for a long time and how great they are and how all the photographers love to shoot them. I never got it until I had the chance to photograph them. Dang they killed it. Singer Jonny Hawkins came out swinging with no shirt and no shoes but he still got service. Nothing More isn’t just a great band with a great energy but they also have some cool toys. A few songs in Jonny got on the ridiculous machine that looked like it was part drums and part really bad transformer (but in a good way). Coming into this show I knew 0 songs by the band and never listened to them but next time they come to town I will for sure stop by to see the show.
