Jax Anderson and Curtis Roach At El Club In Detroit

Last week Detroit’s El Club celebrated their official reopening by having an exciting six day lineup of shows presented by Vans. The venue closed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was eager to commemorate the return of live music. One of the reopening shows was Detroit’s own Jax Anderson and Curtis Roach. On August 4th fans were gathered in the intimate venue to let go of their troubles and sing at the top of their lungs.

Detroit native Curtis Roach started off the show with a bang and even got the crowd to show off their moves by having a dance off in the middle of the pit. Jumping around the whole stage with a smile plastered on his face, you could tell he was ecstatic to be performing again. In turn, everyone in the audience was smiling back. He sang the quarantine anthem “Bored In The House” along with some new tracks. Curtis is going to be someone to watch for years to come.

Jax Anderson was truly a radiant beam of light on stage. Her enthusiasm is unmatched when it comes to writing and singing emotionally honest tracks; the kinds of ones that actually make you feel seen. She played songs such as “Heal”, “Scared to Death”, “Hard Times” and “Good Day”. She even closed out the show with “Queen”, a popular song from when she was known as Flint Eastwood. Jax interacted with the audience throughout the show to express how grateful she is that everyone came out. She stated that she was proud of everyone for making it through this past year and for having the courage to come out to the show. Everyone in the crowd was having the time of their life. It was so refreshing (and exciting) to have witnessed these performances. This past year has been really hard, but I know everyone can agree that live music coming back makes the reopening of the world all the more rewarding.
