Hopsin Funk Volume Tour Detroit

Hopsin, one of the most raw and brutally honest rappers recently performed at Saint Andrews Hall. He has been hitting the road hard on his Funk Volume tour promoting his new self produced album “Pound Syndrome”. Supporting acts Jarren Benton, DJ Hoppa, and Dizzy Wright definitely helped build the energy in the room. Also Jarren and Dizzy being two out of three rappers featured on the new album there is no doubt this tour is nothing far from family. By the time Hopsin hit the stage opening with “The Pound” and “Forever III” the same way “Pound Syndrome” starts, the crowd’s vitality became anomalously more intimate. Hopsins old school style inspired off of Eminem, Busta Rhymes, and Ludacris is obviously present at his shows. He knows how to stay sharp lyrically and not falling into the modern rap trends of remedial slow spitting. As the night came to a close Hopsin made sure to save his hard hitting material for last with “Ill Mind of Hopsin 5” “Sag My Pants” “Ill Mind of Hopsin 7” and “Crown Me”. One of the most influential MC’s out right now you’ll not want to miss the next time he comes back to Detroit. -Kris Herrmann
