Rolling Loud Miami 2022: Saturday Recap

THE RECAP:

With a record-setting five stages occupied by the hottest talent from all corners of the rap universe, day two of Rolling Loud Miami saw the dirty south steal the show with trap legends like Gucci Mane, Kevin Gates, Soulja Boy, and City Girls. Fellow Floridian Saucy Santana had one of the biggest day-time crowds jumping as he tossed a signed Prada jacket to fans along the barricade.

Headliner Future stole the show by bringing the trap to Hard Rock Stadium, alongside special guest Travis Scott. Earlier in the night, Rolling Loud mainstay Lil Uzi Vert lit up the main stage, while wearing their newly announced pronouns "They/Them" across their chest.

With a lineup this saturated with stars, fans never had to look far for one to wish upon, and two young fans got to see theirs come true. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the pair of teens got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grace the stage of the world's largest hip-hop festival alongside their favorite rapper, Ski Mask the Slump God on his home stage, with co-founders Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif.

Def Leppard and Motley Crue Opener Classless Act Release Debut Album 'Welcome To The Show' Today

Today Classless Act, one of the most buzzed-about up-and-coming rock bands, are releasing their much-anticipated debut album, Welcome To The Show via Better Noise Music. Having already earned more than one million streams, the new album gained early traction with three previously released singles, including the self-titled “Classless Act” that features a guest appearance by Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil, the catchy “This Is For You” with Justin Hawkins of The Darkness, and the bombastic “Time To Bleed.”

"Just like the song says, we gave you all our blood, our sweat, our tears, our hate, our sex, our deepest, darkest fears. This is for you!said frontman Derek Day about the album.

Also premiering today is the new single and music video, “All That We Are,” the final installment in the four-part, interlocking video series that loosely follows the band as they set the soundtrack for the misadventures of Farley, an unlucky soul in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can watch the music video HERE.

"All that we are - is it enough for us to survive?" asks Day. "This is a question, a concept we found ourselves asking after all we have been through over the past two years. Hell, the past seven or so years. We’ve been in a wee bit of a less-than-sunny time in our history. So what are we gonna do? Grow or go! Everyone needs to decide. We’ve got a show tonight, so I know what we’re doing!”

Classless Act is poised to find a whole new legion of fans, first with their single “Classless Act” appearing on the soundtrack for THE RETALIATORS film, out this fall, and as they continue in their opening spot on this summer’s 36-date North American Stadium Tour, performing alongside Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett. The tour kicked off June 16 in Atlanta and runs through September 9 in Las Vegas.

"They're going to be right at home on this tour,"
said Loudwire's Toni Gonzalez. "They are straight up, fun rock 'n' roll, high energy, a little dirty and very reminiscent of when rock reigned supreme."

Classless Act's previous tour alongside Dorothy ushered in a slew of positive reviews, with Front Row Perspective writing, “Every now and again you run across a band which you can immediately categorize as ‘I saw them when’ for future conversations. Classless Act is one of those bands!" Or Official Indie who heralded, “Classless Act hit the stage at 100 miles per hour…Watching the high energy act on stage made me think of what it must have been like to have seen Guns N Roses when they first started.”

It’s not often that a band comes around like Classless Act, the L.A.-based quintet who many are forecasting will be the new guard of rock ‘n’ roll, tempting a new generation of fans and giving rock’s faithful a reason to keep believing. They’ve been applauded by bands like Jane’s Addiction and Mötley Crüe, given nods from execs with Live Nation and MTV and are already finding their footing in major international markets barely a year after releasing their first single.

While the music tells its own story, so do the members of the band themselves, hailing from all over the globe, including Hawaii, Los Angeles, Argentina and Dallas. The band, featuring Derek Day (vocals), Dane Pieper (guitar), Griffin Tucker (guitar), Franco Gravante (bass), and Chuck McKissock (drums), first formed in 2018 when the five former strangers met via social media.

The band has also garnered the attention of rock bibles like Loudwire, SPIN, Metal Hammer and Blabbermouth, the latter who said Classless Act “stands ready to carve out a legacy of its own.”

Dirty Heads Premiere New Video "Life's Been Good," a Cover of Joe Walsh's 1978 Hit

DIRTY HEADS AND SOJA KICKING OFF LET’S GET IT KRAKEN 2022 TOUR TONIGHT– GET TICKETS NOW

LAST SUMMER THE BAND RELEASED RETROSPECTIVE COMPILATION ALBUM THE BEST OF DIRTY HEADS

“VACATION” REMIXES AND ACOUSTIC VERSION STREAMING NOW, FOLLOWING 5+ BILLION STREAMS OF “VACATION” ACROSS SOCIAL MEDIA DUE TO VIRAL #VacationTransition CHALLENGE;WATCH THE “VACATION” VIDEO HERE

LOS ANGELES, CA –– JUNE 24, 2021 –– Dirty Heads, the Cali reggae-influenced band behind the viral TikTok hit “Vacation,” today released a new single “Life’s Been Good” via Better Noise Music, along with an official music video. The track is a breezy new cover of Joe Walsh’s 1978 original that poked fun at the antics and excesses of rock stars. It’s dropping just in time for summer as the overall vibe of the song inspires listeners to kick back, relax, and head into a carefree Dirty Heads summer. This spring, the band released new remixes of their massive hit single “Vacation” with producers such as Borgeous and DJ KØLA, and an acoustic version of the track after the #VacationTransition challenge went viral on TikTok, amassing over 378 MILLION streams and over 5 BILLION consumption plays across all social media platforms. Today they will also be kicking off their Let’s Get It Kraken Tour in Seattle, then heading to other cities such as Salt Lake City, Dallas, Boca Raton, Milwaukee, and New York before finishing out in Chicago on August 12. Download and watch “Life’s Been Good” HERE. For a full list of dates and to purchase tickets to the Let’s Get It Kraken Tour, visit: https://dirtyheads.com

Lead singer Jared Watson commented on their new single, ““Life’s Been Good” is the perfect follow up to “Vacation.” It just felt right. If you like the vibe of “Vacation,” if that song impacted your life in a positive way, this is a continuation of that feeling. And I think the story of enjoying life is really what Dirty Heads are all about.”

The band premiered the official music video for the track today as well. Directed and written by the band themselves alongside Black Tee Media’s Jay Teegardin, the video is satirical, capturing the band relaxing in the mountains and the ocean, but ending in tragedy.

They teased fans ahead of their next full-length project, with a reflective compilation album The Best of Dirty Heads last summer, where they joined forces with legendary drummer Travis Barker and Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters on a song called “Rage.” The song was received positively, with Billboardwriting that the collaboration “gives the band's signature reggae rock sound a new gritty punk flavor.”

Dirty Heads will be bringing their hybrid alternative sound and good vibes to amphitheaters nationwide this summer. They will be joined by GRAMMY-nominated group SOJA as they reconnect with fans on the road. Enjoy a great night of Dirty Heads’ signature alt rock/reggae/hip-hop stylings starting tonight in Seattle, with Tribal Seeds, Artikal Sound System, and The Elovaters also joining the tour as support on select dates. MARCUS KING RETURNS WITH DAN AUERBACH PRODUCED NEW ALBUM,
YOUNG BLOOD, RELEASED ON AUGUST 26 VIA AMERICAN RECORDS/REPUBLIC

PRE-ORDER HERE

Marcus King today announced the release of “Lie Lie Lie,” the latest preview track from his forthcoming solo album, Young Blood. The track premiered today with FLOOD Magazine. Shuffling rock drums, wild soloing and fuzzed out psychedelic guitar riffing combine into a towering sonic inferno. At the core of the blaze are King’s vocals, which share a revelation.  “‘Lie Lie Lie’ for me captures the spirit of this record.” King shared. “You can feel how natural the vibe was in the studio. This track showcases each player’s energy, it shines a light on the production and the SOUND of Easy Eye Sound. At the two-and-a-half-minute mark the band locks into a groove that becomes a sonic representation of why I do what I do! I LIVE for that feeling!

Accompanying the song release, King released a live video, created at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound Studio, it features acclaimed musicians including Chris St. Hilaire on drums and Nick Movshon on bass. Watch it HERE.

King’s tales of excess, salvation, break up and addiction, draw on some difficult and personal moments. Despite challenging personal circumstances, King has made his most accomplished work to date. One of his biggest fans, Dan Auerbach, exclaimed. “Music runs so deep in Marcus’s blood he might not even realize how born to do this he is. He’s the real deal.”

King has been an outlier from the very beginning. A fourth generation musician from Greenville, SC, who learned guitar at age 3 from his blues rock musician father Marvin King. He navigated troublesome school years to quickly become known as one of the most promising young artists of our time. He followed his breakout success with The Marcus King Band, with his Auerbach produced 2020 solo album debut, El Dorado. It garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Americana Album” and critical praise from The New York Times to NPR’s Weekend Edition With unparalleled performance prowess and a dynamic live show, King has sold out historic venues from The Beacon to The Filmore. He has opened for Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Nathaniel Rateliff and graced the bills of Stagecoach, Fuji Rock, Rock Werchter and more. He also recently launched his own custom Gibson guitar and signature Orange guitar amplifier, the MK Ultra, which sold out before it even hit the stores.

King recently announced a massive headline US tour, with dates HERE through September and October 2022 supporting the release of his forthcoming solo album, Young Blood. He will be taking his stadium sized sound to esteemed venues across the U.S, including two nights at venues such as New York’s Beacon Theatre and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Neal Francis and Ashland Craft support select dates, and the tour is hosted by comedian Dean Del Ray. Tickets on sale now HERE and a complete list of dates, including summer Europe festivals and shows with Greta Van Fleet, follows below.

King will continue to tear up the rulebook with the release Young Blood, redefining the route to modern rock stardom with a timeless sound and a singular voice, equal parts grease and grit, set to soon establish him as one of the most soulful vocalists of his generation.

Pale Waves at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill on 7/21

Rising indie stars and one of the hottest bands out of the UK Pale Waves will be opening for 5 Seconds of Summer’s North American tour amidst releasing new music ahead of their August album – they come to Sterling Heights, MI on 7/21 at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill.

I have listened to a few songs of theirs and they remind me of the good ol days of Pop Punk and some young All Time Low. That is probably because the first song on their Spotify is them being featured on a All Time Low Song. That’s not a bad thing I love ATL. Do I think they will be a good part of this show? Yes I do, I love when a new band come in this genre. I hope they will mix things up for their opening set. Only time will tell! Hopefully you can make it out to their set! If you do find me and say what’s up! Get tickets here.

While the 14-track opus reflects a story of survival and resilience from the band, the album’s opening track “Anything Was Better” effortlessly sets the tone across In The Wildand offers a personal account of lead vocalist Aimee Interrupter’s strength despite her struggles.

“This song is the story of my escape from not necessarily a location but from the pain and trauma of my upbringing,” Aimee Interrupter shares. “It’s also a story of hope and seeking refuge in the unknown. I said goodbye to everyone and everything I ever knew because in my mind anything was better than where I was from.”
