Tenacious D Announces Swing State Tour

TENACIOUS D ANNOUNCES SWING STATE TOUR (Plus Stops In NYC & DC) THIS FALL

The Purple Nurple Tour On Sale Friday, March 6, at 10 am local time.

unnamed-27.jpg

A message from Tenacious D: "Donald Trump has proven to be the most divisive, corrupt and dangerous President in the modern history of this country, and we simply cannot stand for another four years of his administration! Now is the time to elect a REAL leader!" With that in mind, Tenacious D has put together The Purple Nurple Tour - Twisting Hard To The Left! - whose shows go on sale this Friday, March 6, at 10 am local time. Tickets can be purchased at TenaciousD.com.

The run of shows, which focuses on swing states - with a few special stops at NYC’s Radio City Music Hall & Washington DC’s Merriweather Post Pavilion - sees everyone’s favorite band (comprised of Jack Black and Kyle Gass) partnering with 46 for 46 to promote voter registration and overall civic action through music. Tour dates and more information on 46 for 46 are below. Please note the band’s Washington DC show features a special collaboration with Soulful Symphony, bringing a revitalized orchestral element to the band’s already stellar live show.

Says The D:  “In 2016, six states were decided by 2 percentage points or less, and ten states were decided by 4 percentage points or less. Swing states played a pivotal role in the outcome of that election, and they will again in 2020. Knowing that, we looked at each other and agreed: just like the tale of Post-Apocalypto, it is time for Tenacious D to RIDE and help save the world from Trumpian destruction. With great rock comes great responsibility.”

Tenacious D also recently announced that they will be adding the final piece to their Post-Apocalypto universe: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL, out this September via Fantagraphics. Pre-order the book HERE!

Post-Apocalypto the graphic novel will add to 2018’s brilliant releases of the same epic tale:

Tenacious D in Post-Apocalypto - THE FILM - is an original, six-part animated feature from the minds of Tenacious D. Each frame of every chapter was hand-drawn by Black himself, with every character voiced by Black and Gass.

WATCH POST-APOCALYPTO NOW.

All six chapters feature Tenacious D songs, culminating in the latest Tenacious D album -- also called Post-Apocalypto -- available on DSP’s and in stores now. Produced by John Spiker, and featuring long-time collaborator Dave Grohl on drums, Post-Apocalypto - THE ALBUM - is a genius addition to The D’s already scintillating catalogue of rock greatness.

True to the title, the tale of Post-Apocalypto finds Tenacious D thrust into a world of complete and utter destruction following the drop of an atomic bomb. Surviving the attack in classic cinematic fashion (a good old imperishable 1950’s refrigerator), the duo quickly learns that new forms of evil have spawned from the blast. One thing becomes apparent -- for humanity to prevail, Tenacious D must save the world.

Yung Gravy x bbno$ Unleash Baby Gravy 2 Today
unnamed-6.png

The next in a long line of dangerous dynamic duos, Yung Gravy and bbno$ (pronounced “baby no money”) unleash the hottest sequel of 2020 (and their new joint opus)Baby Gravy 2, today. The artists also plan to drop a video for the single “Bandsville” on February 20th.

Get it HERE via Imperial Distribution.

Baby Gravy 2 continues a legacy the boys started on the 2017 Baby Gravy EP. Like any worthy sequel though, the hooks hit harder, the bars last longer, and the heat burns a whole lot hotter.

The pair teased out the project with “iunno” late last year, and it already cracked 8.3 million Spotify streams and 1.6 million YouTube views. Earlier this month, they unleashed “Off The Goop” [feat. Cuco]. With these releases, the project has already amassed over 50 Million streams to date.

Regarding the latter, OnesToWatch claimed, “From Yung Gravy’s ‘oldies’ approach to modern trap music, to bbno$’ self-proclaimed ‘oxymoronical’ style of rap, the two have been able to maximize their impact in the hip-hop landscape.

From the braggadocious single “Bandsville” to the ball-busting of “Justin Bieber Wrist”and spicy Latin flavor of “Welcome To Chilis” to the catchy confidence of “Shining On My Ex” (which rhymes Johnny Depp and Boba Fett)Baby Gravy 2 affirms the truth that two heads are always better than one—especially when they flex like this. Not to mention, it also boasts feature spots from Spark Master Tape (“Go Bananas,” “Gasoline Pt. 2”) and TrippyThaKid (“Cadbury Creme”).

Minnesota-born rapper Yung Gravy burst onto the scene in 2016 when his first single “Karen” stirred a palpable buzz online. His debut EP, Mr. Clean, went viral on the strength of “Continental Breakfast”—which cracked the 1 Million mark on Soundcloud. Sandwiching a sample of The Chordettes’ “Mr. Sandman” between raunchy and raw rhymes, the title track “Mr. Clean” soundtracked countless fan videos and ignited 15.1 million Spotify streams and 6.7 million Soundcloud plays in under a year. Throughout 2017, he unleashed a string of nonstop music, including Thanksgiving’s EveYung Gravity EP, and Baby Gravy EP. Soon, he reached #1 on Indify and had labels knocking at his door. Gravy kicked off 2018 with the Seussical single “1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot” and toured prolifically throughout the year with bbno$. He recently hit 1 Million followers on Instagram.

bbno$ (pronounced “baby no money”) is a Vancouver-based new wave rapper who just released his third album, i don’t care at allbbno$ has been steadily building a fan base online since he released his first single in 2016 on SoundCloud. First gaining traction in China, thanks to one of his songs being used in a dance choreography by the country's biggest boyband, he has since been streamed over 100 million times, headlined three Chinese tours and nine festivals in the market since 2017.  2018 saw bbno$’s spotify listenership increase ten-fold reaching the seven digit mark as he continued to release music while supporting Yung Gravy on North American and European tours, and co-headline his first Canadian tour. Earlier this year he released his sophomore album Recess, supported a second Yung Gravy North American tour, and booked his first headlining American and European tours. His most notable track Lalala, with producer Y2K, has garnered 500 Million streams across platforms since June 2019.

Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) has released his fourth studio albumThe Slow Rush today, February 14 (Interscope). Stream/purchase the album here.

The Slow Rush is Parker’s deep dive into the oceans of time, conjuring the feeling of a lifetime in a lightning bolt, of major milestones whizzing by while you’re looking at your phone, it’s a paean to creation and destruction and the unending cycle of life. Parker told the New York Times, “A lot of the songs carry this idea of time passing, of seeing your life flash before your eyes, being able to see clearly your life from this point onwards. I’m being swept by this notion of time passing. There’s something really intoxicating about it.” The album cover was created in collaboration with photographer Neil Krug and features a symbol of humanity all but swallowed whole by the surrounding environment, as though in the blink of an eye. The Slow Rush was recorded between Los Angeles and Parker’s studio in his hometown of Fremantle, Australia. The twelve tracks were recorded, produced and mixed by Parker.

Anna Dellaria Releases New Single “Sorry Doesn’t Work”
unnamed-22.jpg

LA-based singer/songwriter Anna Dellaria is proud to present her honest and emotional new single “Sorry Doesn’t Work", out everywhere today.

“Sorry Doesn’t Work,” a vulnerable piece that opens with intimate vocals and warm guitar, is a desperate plea for forgiveness. It tells of that cycle many of us know too well—of pushing people away, only to wish they stayed. As the song progresses, her melodic alto sings of the anguish of helplessness and desperation to heal, carried by soaring strings and grappling harmonies.

According to the San Francisco native, “Sorry Doesn’t Work” laments how the word "Sorry" is like a bandaid to a broken leg: an acknowledgment of something wrong but of no real help to heal or fix it. "Sorry Doesn't Work" grapples with the desperation we feel when trying to fix something that's out of our control.
