Andy Gill, pioneering guitarplayer/founding member of GANG OF FOUR, passed away at age 64
unnamed-18.jpg

It is with great sadness that we announce that Andy Gill died today, aged 64, in a central London hospital after a short respiratory illness.

Andy, often cited as one of the world’s greatest guitarists, left his mark on his own music, as founding member of Gang of Four. In pioneering the band’s sparse, jagged sound and looping feedback, Andy also inspired and informed generations of musicians. A ground-breaking composer and a brilliantly innovative producer, he worked with artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Stranglers, the Futureheads, Michael Hutchence, Bono, Therapy and the Young Knives.

Gang of Four is considered one of the most influential British rock bands of all time, with their post-punk sound defining a whole era of new music coming out of Britain in the late 70s. Gang of Four continued to evolve, innovate and remain vibrantly relevant, touring extensively in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East just last year and continuing to release new music, with latest album Happy Now out in 2019, and a new studio album just finished. Political and pointed, Gang of Four’s debut album Entertainment! (which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year), has been listed as one of the greatest albums of all time in Rolling StonePitchfork, among others. Respected writer David Fricke of Rolling Stone called them "probably the best politically motivated band in rock & roll.”

John Sterry, Thomas McNeice and Tobias Humble, respectively singer, bass player and drummer of Gang of Four, say:

This is so hard for us to write, but our great friend and Supreme Leader has died today.

Andy’s final tour in November was the only way he was ever really going to bow out; with a Stratocaster around his neck, screaming with feedback and deafening the front row.

His uncompromising artistic vision and commitment to the cause, meant that he was still listening to mixes for the upcoming record and planning the next tour from his hospital bed.

But to us, he was our friend - and we’ll remember him for his kindness and generosity, his fearsome intelligence, bad jokes, mad stories and endless cups of Darjeeling tea. He just so happened to be a bit of a genius too.

One of the best to ever do it, his influence on guitar music and the creative process was inspiring for us all, as well as everyone who worked alongside him and listened to his music. And his albums and production work speak for themselves.
Go give ‘em a spin for him...

Love you mate

Andy is survived by his wife Catherine Mayer, his brother Martin and many family and elective family members who will miss him terribly. Please respect their grief.

LIL WAYNE ANNOUNCES 13TH SOLO STUDIO ALBUM
unnamed-5.png

WAYNE’S LATEST ALBUM SINCE THE CHART-TOPPING AND CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED THA CARTER V

“Lil Wayne’s long-delayed ‘Tha Carter V’ reminds us why he’s one of the greats. It’s an album full of fire and passion from an artist who doesn’t have anything left to prove.” – Rolling Stone

“After six years, Wayne delivers with a strong return. He’s confident, lithe and lucid. There’s still the hunger, the rapid-fire wordplay that he does with ease.” - Billboard

NEW YORK (January 24, 2020) – The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning music mogul Lil Wayne announced his highly anticipated 13th solo studio album, symbolically titled, Funeral, will be released Friday, January 31st via Young Money Records/Republic Records. Ahead of the album’s release, fans can pre-save Funeral HERE and purchase merch HERE.

Funeral follows the massive success of Lil Wayne’s long-awaited, RIAA-certified platinum album, Tha Carter V, which debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 with the second-largest streaming week for an album of all time. Hailed by critics and fans alike, Variety said, the album has “the crunch of the Southern trap and ropey rap-rock sounds that Wayne pretty much started in the first place.” Pitchfork noted, “The long-delayed album captures Wayne how we want to remember him: openhearted, word-drunk, and exhilarated by the possibilities of his own versatility."

This past year, Wayne teamed up with blink-182 for an electric, co-headlining tour across North America. Last week, Wayne partnered with ESPN in celebration of the College Football Playoff National Championship game to release the catchy track  “Playoff” feat. Poppy H, Corey Henry & The Treme Funktet.

AWOLNATION - goes #1 and plays at NHL All-Star Game

AWOLNATION

CELEBRATES THE PRE-ORDER OF

ANGEL MINERS & THE LIGHTNING RIDERS

WITH THE RELEASE OF

“MAYDAY!! FIESTA FEVER”

(ft Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros)

AWOLNATION TO PERFORM AT THE NHL ALL-STAR GAME ON 1/25

“THE BEST” HITS THE TOP 10 AT ALTERNATIVE RADIO

AWOLNATION_ALBUM_COVER_20x20_6000x6000_300_RGB_DELIVERABLE.jpg

AWOLNATION is preparing to release the new album, ANGEL MINERS & THE LIGHTNING RIDERS, via Better Noise Music on April 24, 2020.  Pre-orders begin today for the full-length, which features the fastest-growing song at Alternative Radio – “The Best” and the more recent single, “California Halo Blue,” that singer / songwriter Aaron Bruno penned about the California fires that ravaged his studio and nearly his home as well.  The album features guest appearances from Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.  Ebert’s collaboration on the single “Mayday!! Fiesta Fever” is out today.

“I was absolutely honored that an old friend of mine named Alex Ebert agreed to do a feature on this song.  He played in a band called Ima Robot and of course Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, and now he has his own solo project he’s doing, and he’s just an incredible artist,” says Bruno. He explains of “Mayday!! Fiesta Fever” “This track is kind of an old school throwdown party song. It was influenced by a feeling I’ve always had, which is that this [music] industry isn’t, and wasn’t for me, an easy place to get into or be accepted by. It felt like in some way I had to kick down the door to get in. So the song is an  anthem of sorts for those of us who have never been invited to the cool party, or the exclusive club.  It has an energy and attitude that imagines the feeling of once you are able to crash inside that cool party, you just go wild and do stuff like spray paint the walls a little bit to disrupt things.”

vertical pic.JPG

The NHL’s biggest ‘party’ of the year – the 2020 Honda NHL ® All-Star Game – has invited Bruno to perform during the player introductions.  He will appear on the NBC telecast on 1/25/2020 from the Enterprise Center in St Louis, MO.

The band’s current single at Alternative Radio, “The Best,” just hit the Top 10 at the format.  Driven by strong fan engagement, the song is being featured at major market stations like ALT 92.3 in New York, ALT 98.7 in Los Angeles and 101 WKQX Chicago, among others. “The Best” is the band’s first Top 10 Alt Radio smash with Better Noise Music.  Label CEO Allen Kovac said of the track “If you liked ‘Sail’ you’re going to love ‘The Best.’  It is sure to be a Grammy contender in 2021!”

Bruno, the songwriter and architect behind AWOLNATION, wrote and recorded one of the most influential songs of the previous decade with the chart-topping, record-breaking track “Sail.” The first single off the platinum Megalithic Symphony (2011), “Sail” is certified Diamond (10 million) and holds the record for the most weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by an independent artist, the second longest for any artist.  The debut album also produced the Gold certified “Not Your Fault” and two other Top 10 US singles.  AWOLNATION released the sophomore album Run in 2015 and 2018’s follow up Here Come The Runts. Across the span of 3 albums, AWOLNATION has notched seven Top 5 Alternative Radio hits, including two #1’s, and has accumulated millions of sales, downloads and over 1.5 billion streams globally. The music has been used in dozens of films, television shows and commercials around the world, and songs have been the genesis of viral sensations garnering hundreds of millions of streams and views across platforms like Instagram, Vine, TikTok, YouTube, etc.

CAAMP ANNOUNCE CO-HEADLINING DATES WITH TRAMPLED BY TURTLES

Today, the Columbus, OH band Caamp announced new co-headlining tour dates with Minnesota’s Trampled By Turtles. These additional tour dates cap off an extensive, mostly sold-out North American run of dates which kick off in the spring of 2020 including dates with The Lumineers and stops in Madison, Portland, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Charleston and more. See all tour dates below.

Caamp recently scored their first #1 at radio with their single “Peach Fuzz,” made their late night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and followed that up with a killer performance on CBS This Morning Saturday. After a victorious festival season playing Firefly, Shaky Knees, Forecastle, Outside Lands, Austin City Limits, Great Escape and many more, Caamp kicked off a major US headlining tour on September 24th and sold out show after show. Tour highlights included multi-night stints at Thalia Hall in Chicago, The Basement East in Nashville, Royale in Boston, Brooklyn Steel, 9:30 Club in D.C. and Newport Music Hall in their hometown of Columbus.

Trampled by Turtles are from Duluth, Minnesota, where frontman Dave Simonett initially formed the group as a side project in 2003. At the time, Simonett had lost most of his music gear, thanks to a  group of enterprising car thieves who'd ransacked his vehicle while he played a show with his previous band. Left with nothing more than an acoustic guitar, he began piecing together a new band, this time taking inspiration from bluegrass, folk, and other genres that didn't rely on amplification. Seventeen years and counting, their crossover appeal has taken them Top 30 album on the Billboard 200  to television appearances from Letterman to Conan and festival stages from Coachella to Lollapalooza with hundreds more in between.

Directed by Joseph Kahn, the band and the ladies put their own smart, satirical, spirited and sexy twist on classic films such as Risky BusinessGrease, and Say Anything.

Watch it HERE.

The broadcast premiere for the video will air on MTV Live, mtvU and the Times Square Viacom billboard at 6AM EST today.

Jonas Brothers will pull out all the stops next Sunday January 26 when they perform “What A Man Gotta Do” live for the very first time at the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards® in Los Angeles. Plus, they vie for the “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” statue at the ceremony.

Be sure to tune in to the broadcast on CBS.

The song arrives hot on the heels of the band’s blockbuster comeback album, Happiness Begins. Not only did it bow at #1 on the Billboard Top 200, go platinum, and set the stage for the sold out Happiness Begins Tour across arenas everywhere, but it also yielded the Hot 100 #1 smash “Sucker, which proved definitive for 2019. Most importantly, it set the stage for the biggest, boldest, and brightest era of Jonas Brothers yet.

Be on the lookout for more surprises and big news very soon.

The preeminent male group of this century, Jonas Brothers opened the floodgates for a new era of titans in pop music. Following a six-year hiatus, Jonas Brothers took 2019 by storm with the surprise release of their critically acclaimed and widely successful single "Sucker. The double-platinum single debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, becoming the first #1 for the band and the first #1 debut from a group this century.  The song emerged as a cultural phenomenon, ranking #1 on Billboard’s critic's picks list of the “50 Best Songs of 2019, and standing out as the top song on U.S. Radio in 2019, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Making history once more, the band delivered their third #1 album debut with the release of their platinum-selling album Happiness Begins. The band continued to soar with their sold-out Happiness Begins Tour, with over 1 million tickets sold.  The tour received unanimous praise with Billboard writing, “The ‘Happiness Begins’ Tour feels like a celebration of everything in the Jonas Brothers' career, but also the beginning of their larger-than-life new chapter,” and The Washington Post claiming, “There hasn’t been a boy band in recent history that’s made a comeback quite like Jonas Brothers. Moreover, Rolling Stone summed it best, “Following a six year hiatus, it almost feels like the Jonas Brothers are bigger than ever.”

The band closed out a banner year with the release of “Only Human, another Top 5 hit on both Top 40 and Hot AC radio airplay charts. What’s more, they garnered a bevy of awards, including a 2019 MTV Video Music Award for "Best Pop Video" and two 2019 Teen Choice Awards for "Artist Of The Decade" and "Choice Summer Group.” Plus, they were nominated in top categories at the American Music Awards, including “Favorite Duo or Group Pop/Rock” and “Favorite Song Pop/Rock.” Most recently, they notched their second GRAMMY® nomination for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.”
